Elite Soccer Summer Intensive 2022
Here’s a Preview…
THE DETAILS
The 2022 SportHQ Summer Intensive is a 9-week series of high level soccer and futsal training that runs from May 31, 2022 – July 29, 2022 in Cary, NC. The summer intensive aims to improve each player’s technical, tactical, physical, and mental skills and abilities leading up to the start of the club season in August time.
Our first summer “camp in 2021 was a fantastic learning experience. We took in the feedback provided and did a lot of self-reflection in order to learn and improve on things going forward. We have made some changes (for the better we hope) in terms of our content, delivery, format, and logistics.
Our goal has always been to deliver unparalleled training by placing players in a professional setting (with professional expectations) and provide them with intense and detailed instruction. Our program is not for everyone—we are very selective on who is admitted into our summer camp and who is retained in the program.
We believe intensity, focus, and discipline, and positive reinforcement are the main driving forces in player development. At the same time we create an environment where the players are encouraged to let their personalities come out and enjoy their time on/off the field. We hold players to clear standards however, we also understand that they are learning and need to enjoy being in the environment they are in.
Your child will be challenged but will learn how to cope with the pressure (and challenges) that are required to be a top player.
Training dates in Cary are offered in the PM each day of the week. Please refer to the schedule below to identify age-specific training dates.
*We will NOT have sessions on the following days due to the federal Holidays:
- Monday, May 30th
- Monday, July 4th
Groups are capped at 15 players per group unless special circumstances exist
THE EXPECTATIONS
We feel that it’s important for players and parents to understand a few things about our mentality and focus areas so that you have a clear understanding of why we do things the way that we do. At the same time, it’s important that we work TOGETHER (coaches, players, and parents) to create a positive environment in which your child can learn and grow.
Please read the following document for a summary of what we expect from our participants and what our participants can expect from us: Expectations Document

SESSION STRUCTURE
Here is the weekly structure for the PM sessions:
- 5:00PM – 6:30PM OR 6:30PM – 8:00PM
- Two groups run side-by-side in tandem
- Each group meets up to three times per week – two sessions are technically and tactically focused while the third session is s “drop-in” and consists of small-sided matches
Day 1 (Technical/Tactical): The session will introduce a technical/tactical focus and put players through a series of different unopposed and opposed scenarios that encourage the technical/tactical coaching points to find success. Focused on improving each player’s abilities on the ball including but not limited to ball mastery, dribbling, passing accuracy, shooting/striking, etc.
Day 2 (Technical/Tactical): The session will introduce a technical/tactical focus and put players through a series of different unopposed and opposed scenarios that encourage the technical/tactical coaching points to find success. Focused on improving each player’s abilities on the ball including but not limited to ball mastery, dribbling, passing accuracy, shooting/striking, etc.
Day 3 (Drop-In Small-Sided Matches): Focused on applying the technical and tactical instruction from the week to match situations. Players will scrimmage with their own and other age groups. This will be a competitive environment and prizes will be distributed to the winners. Matches will be officiated, and coaches will be heavily involved, providing coaching points and pointing out successful application of technical/tactical teachings. There will also be an element of recovery with this session.
SPORTHQ ELITE SUMMER INTENSIVE 2022 SCHEDULE
WEATHER POLICY
We will plan to train in rain, cold, snow, etc. unless there is inclement weather that proves travel to and from the facility dangerous or there the weather makes playing dangerous. We have designed the week of July 24 – 30 as a week of make-up days for any sessions that are cancelled.
In the case of inclement weather, we will first look to move training indoors at SportHQ to the indoor court if it is available. If the indoor court is not available we cancel training for that day and look to one of our make-up dates. At SportHQ we have an indoor gym, indoor turf room, a gym, and a conference room that we will use to play futsal, perform SAQ and fitness work, and educate players on tactical concepts if weather prevents us from being outdoors. We are always prepared week-to-week with fitness work and tactical concepts that relate to the theme of the week.

My children have been coming to SportHQ for years. It did not matter if we were coming for a performance training session, futsal league or summer sports day camp, it was always a great experience.

I like how Taylor helps us through the drill/workout, not just telling us what to do at the beginning, but also correcting our errors throughout the workout.
—Sean Herbst

—JP Kenney

Graham is a very talented trainer and advisor. We are better every time we work with him. SportHQ is a good facility for him to work in.
—Jack Wells
The Adult Strength and Conditioning class is fantastic. The trainers do a great job leading the group and pushing everyone to improve themselves. The classes are held at several different times every day, so there is plenty of flexibility to fit a class into your schedule. Highly recommend for beginners up to experienced athletes. The trainers will coach you based on your individual ability while still training as a group. Lots of fun.
—Frank Cullen
