About Us

SportHQ was founded in 2011 as a futsal and performance training facility with the goal of using sports and physical activity to enhance the lives of those in the community around us. We specialize in youth performance training, adult fitness training, futsal and soccer supplemental skill development, and sports track out/summer day camps. Our objective is to create a fun, family-friendly environment for youth and adults of all ages to develop confidence and athleticism.

Our Mission:

  2. To create a family-first environment where each of our athletes and members are appreciated and known by name.
  3. To care about those we serve as a means to positively impact the lives of all who pass through our doors.

The Facility:

Located in Cary, NC, only a few minutes from Raleigh off of Rt. 440 & Rt. 1, our impressive 15,000 square foot training facility offers:

Dan Cyr

Dan Cyr

Owner, Physical Therapist

Dan graduated from the University of New England where he played varsity soccer and club lacrosse. As a lifelong athlete he has a tremendous passion for sports and the positive benefit they can have in our lives. When he’s not managing multiple businesses you can find him cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels or spending time with his wife, daughter, and Great Dane!

Kenni Apilli

Owner, Director of Performance Training
Kennie holds an MBA with a specialty in Operations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Performance with specializations in Kinesiology, Exercise Science and a minor in Nutrition. A graduate of the Jack Welch Management Institute and Southern Utah University, his experience includes over a decade working with youth, collegiate, professional athletes and adults of all ages. His passion to help others with their goals matured from his experiences as a collegiate athlete playing football at NC State and Southern Utah universities. As a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA, Certified Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine and Functional Movement Specialist, he firmly believes that he can help and guide anyone trying to achieve their health, fitness and athletic training goals.

Kupono Low

Director of Soccer Training

Kupono Low is from Hawaii and is a retired professional soccer player. He played with the Railhawks for over a decade while making international appearances for Puerto Rico. He brings his long pedigree of experience to SportHQ to lead the soccer training program. He uses his unique coaching and training philosophy to bridge the gap between team practice and individual training.

Coach Brandon

Brandon Bete

Performance Coach - TPI-F2, CPT

Brandon grew up in Massachusetts spending all his time playing hockey and golf. After 4 years of hockey at Assumption College he moved to compete in professional tournaments as a golfer in Florida. After his golf career he transitioned to coaching to combine the physical training with the technical aspects of these sports.

Coach Connor

Connor Riddell

Director of Team Sports Performance - MSc., CSCS

Coach Connor is the newest addition to SportHQ Performance Division. He has moved from California where he is finishing his M.Sc. in Kinesiology in Strength an Conditioning. He is a former Professional MMA fighter and collegiate Rugby player. Coach Connor has 8 years of coaching experience including 4 years of training team sports athletes. He specializes in field sports training and martial arts conditioning.

Personal Trainer

Rachel Snyder

Performance Coach - CPT

Rachel is a Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM) and has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from UNC-Charlotte. She played Division I college soccer for UNC-Asheville for two years as a forward. Prior to UNC-Asheville, she grew up in Cary, NC and attended Athens Drive High School.  The Jaguars were the 2016 4A East Regional Runner-Up. She was an All-Conference, All-Region, and All-State selection, played in the Clash of the Carolinas, and was chosen as a Midtown News and Observer Athlete of the Week. She played Club Soccer for ’97 TFC Alliance and was a 2015 State Champion. Rachel is passionate and excited to work with youth athletes to help them reach their goals.

Coach Jeremiah

Jeremiah Tippins

Camp Counselor and Virtual Learning Coach

Jeremiah Tippins was born in Bamberg, Germany. He moved to North Carolina around the age of 5 and has lived in NC ever since. In high school he discovered he had a natural talent in wrestling. Jeremiah has also participated in extracurricular activities such as choir, dancing, science olympiad, and theater arts. In 2014, he attended Fayetteville Technical Community College at the age of 17 and realized he had an aptitude for technology. Armed with the support of family and friends, he studies hard to get certified in cyber security. He brings his passion for physical activity, learning, and working with youth to both HQCamp and Virtual Learning.

Coach Erik

Erik Elder

Performance Coach – CPT

Erik Elder is from Huntersville, NC. He grew up playing football and swimming before developing a love for powerlifting while attending NC State University.  He also is an avid musician, specializing in the guitar. After graduating from NCSU with his Bachelor’s degree he splits his time between working as an aide for Response Physical Therapy and coaching for us.

Camp Counselor Brienna

Brienna Laskowski

Camp Counselor and Virtual Learning Coach

Brienna is from Albemarle, North Carolina and attended South Stanly High School where she was a multiple All-Yadkin Valley Conference and All-Stanly News & Press selection as a prep player. Upon graduation in 2017, Laskowski was recruited to attend William Peace University as an outside hitter. In 2019 she led them to a third place finish in the USA South Conference’s East Division. Just this past fall, Laskowski was named the 2019-20 Bierce Most Outstanding Athlete at William Peace University, as well as First Team East Division and First Team All Conference.

Brienna began coaching travel volleyball in 2018. She has coached at JOCO, NC Elite, and I3.

Brienna is studying Business Administration and aspires to become an assistant volleyball coach at William Peace University upon graduation this spring.
