About Us

SportHQ was founded in 2011 as a futsal and performance training facility with the goal of using sports and physical activity to enhance the lives of those in the community around us. We specialize in youth performance training, adult fitness training, futsal and soccer supplemental skill development, and sports track out/summer day camps. Our objective is to create a fun, family-friendly environment for youth and adults of all ages to develop confidence and athleticism.

Our Mission:

  2. To create a family-first environment where each of our athletes and members are appreciated and known by name.
  3. To care about those we serve as a means to positively impact the lives of all who pass through our doors.

The Facility:

Located in Cary, NC, only a few minutes from Raleigh off of Rt. 440 & Rt. 1, our impressive 15,000 square foot training facility offers:

  • 2 Fenced-In Outdoor Turf Fields
  • 1 Fenced-In Outdoor Grass Field

Dan Cyr

Owner, Physical Therapist

Dan graduated from the University of New England where he played varsity soccer and club lacrosse. As a lifelong athlete he has a tremendous passion for sports and the positive benefit they can have in our lives. When he’s not managing multiple businesses you can find him cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels or spending time with his wife, daughter, and Great Dane!

Eric "EJ" Johnson

Co-Owner/Fitness & Sports Performance Director

EJ Graduated from The University at Buffalo and continued studies/coaching in exercise physiology and sports performance at Princeton University. As an athlete he’s competed in a wide variety of sports from the professional to amateur level including soccer, football, track and field, cycling, CrossFit, basketball, Spartan, baseball and many more. EJ enjoys working with anyone trying to improve fitness or athleticism and see’s each individual as a lifelong client. When away from the gym he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Adam Striebel

Director of Soccer and Futsal

With over 20 years of experience coaching youth soccer, Adam brings passion not only for the game, but for individual player development. Adam has worked with players at all levels, challenging them to improve in all aspects of the game, including ball mastery, individual technical skills, tactical applications of game situations, soccer IQ, soccer speed, agility, and quickness. While all of these components are vital to progression and success on the pitch, Adam also works to develop character traits such as perseverance, mental toughness, adaptability, resiliency, focus, and determination which will serve each player as they navigate life’s challenges. Adam holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “B” license, a Futbol Association of Wales level 1 certificate, NSCAA SSG and Tactical Applications Certificate, USSF Grassroots Certificates (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11), and Liverpool FC Youth Academy Coaching Certificate. He was recognized as 2014 NCYSA Boys Classic Coach of the year, and has coached both boys and girls from pre-academy level through college preparatory phase of development.  He has served as a Director for multiple clubs in the area, from one of the smallest in NC to one of the largest in the Country.

Adam is committed to meeting each player on their level, working toward individual goals and building a positive relationship between the player, family and the beautiful game of soccer that has given him joy and satisfaction since his youth.

Blake Rudd

Blake Rudd

Fitness and Sports Performance Coach

Blake grew up in Cary, North Carolina where he attended Cary High School and played baseball. After playing one year of college baseball, he decided to transition to NC State University to focus on his education. Blake has since obtained his personal training license and has trained clients and athletes in a variety of settings. Blake additionally works at our in house physical therapy clinic as a stretch specialist and a clinical aide, and he will be attending Winston-Salem State University in the new year to begin his Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

Tyler grew up playing soccer in Apex, North Carolina and currently studies sports and nutrition science at NC State University. “I started getting serious about my physical fitness and fell in love with the journey. I love learning about the body and letting my creativity flow through workouts. I can’t wait to help guide and encourage people through their fitness journey.”

Ella Rockwell

Fitness and Sports Performance Coach

Ella grew up playing soccer in Italy, California, and North Carolina. She played club soccer at NC state and worked for the NC State football team as a sports med trainer where her passion for training others grew exponentially. Ella has always been very passionate about health and fitness and helping others find the best within themselves. Her goal is to make every session a time where each client can feel supported, encouraged to do their best and to help each individual reach their goals with a tailored program.
